Yesterday was our last full day at the beach. Husband and I took the girls to the diner for breakfast, then to a Yo Gabba Gabba themed gymnastics birthday party– Chicken had a blast crawling around and trying to “get” all the big kids who were SO very much faster than her, and Ham rolled slowly around the mats very happily– and then, so I “could have a break,” Husband took the girls for a walk down to the park. Seriously, he is the best ever. So I got to hang out and play cribbage with my brother and cousin because that is how I roll, and the girls did this:
So happy! And so big!
The best thing about having an hour alone (aside from having an hour alone ) is, for me, having that feeling of pure elation when I see my girls again afterwards, like it’s been a week, and they give me big smiles. Melts my heart!

Happy Monday!
This past week we started having sleep issues. We went from 4-5 hour sleep stretches at a night to almost no sleep and shrieking for what seems like no reason. This leaves for a tired Mama and Dada and a baby who is exhausted. So exhausted that she fell asleep while I was burping her in the ‘sitting-up’ position. Why no, SJ, I don’t have anything better to do than to hold your head up while you sleep. Actually I don’t. I love that her little baby instincts let her know that no matter what ‘Mama’s got her back’.

Happy Monday!!
This past week, my daughter turned into a crawling machine, and the house suddenly looks like a dangerous place to me. Every cord, outlet, and sharp corner is highlighted in my mind, and wouldn’t you know it, but my darn child beelines straight for all of them. What is it about the shiny blue light that draws us all in?
Holiday Monday! Well, in Canada anyway. Which holiday? It’s hard to say. It is different in every province, but is commonly referred to as “the August long weekend.” Yay…patriotism? In my province it is either Civic Holiday or Simcoe Day, depending on which sign you read telling you the store will be closed that day. So, yeah. I have no idea!
No matter! BJB took Friday and tomorrow off, so we headed up to the family cottage for a mini-vacation. HGB has really improved his walking on uneven ground skills the last few days! Well, sort of.
Observe – A boy and his dog, in 3 parts:
Remember when waking up to a trail of scattered clothing on your floor meant that it had been an (overly) fun night on the town? A couple of days ago, I looked up from my perch in the bathroom where I was sitting watching Stella while she splashed in the tub, and I realized that the trail of clothing on my floor had an entirely different meaning now. Burp cloth, short-shorts, onesie, and swaddling blanket, all laid out in a row. When it is this scattered, it means I pushed it too long (in this case, at Music in the Park) before getting her home and into the bath, and we were flying through the bedtime routine to avoid any potential breakdowns. How times have changed…
After a long night out on the town…little people edition.
